I really think they suck. You can't even tell they are about processors until the end.
October 4, 2006 3:46:01 AM

Most of us, well myself and co-workers, didn't know what the hell they were trying to show.

I mean, if they would've used those "multiplied" people doing something, like one cooks, one does laundry, one cleans windows, etc, it would've made more sense, then some people dancing around.

Overall, I thought it was okay, not dancing bunny suit good, but better than those damn blue men ads.

My understanding of the world has been knocked on its head.
Why? Because of this, the Inquirer actually produced a truthful article.

I'm pretty disappointed in them. They're not worth the kind of money spent on creating them :/  I think the commercials with the different celebrities sitting on people's laps like laptops was better than this.
October 4, 2006 4:35:54 AM

Damn Intel really Sucked themselfs this time, If 2 Birds were shown being killed with one Rock(Pentium D 805) it would have been a much more Appealing commercial Atleast it would have gave a hint of what to do with their 805's after being replaced by a Core 2 Duo (Allendale Cores Mostly)

LOL, very true
October 4, 2006 5:28:01 AM

intel should do marketing that clearly shows the core 2 as the processor that's replacing the pentium 4. if people could understand that core 2 is basically your pentium 5, all the average joe's would be asking for it.

You know the commerical I really enjoyed -- and whose commercials I will likely continue to find really well done --- Apple.

The Richard Dreyfus (sp?) narration of the 'Think Different.' was just brilliant in my opinion.

JackI loathe the new Mac/PC ads, with the arrogant young guy as Mac, and older out of shape loser as PC. The commercials make PC owners look like dorks. :x

Good one!!! :D

p.s anybody got a link to those intel commercials? I am not in the US and no core2duo campaign here yet :(
October 4, 2006 8:38:39 AM

it looks like these (core 2) ads were the product of someone who had this specific ad in their head and just used it on the first product that it was approved for. it could be a shampoo ad. or levitra. or pop tarts. truly, its use here is an acknowledgment by intel that they simply don't need to advertise. (which, really, is true).

and since someone mentioned "1984", i had to pull up my copy of it and watch it, as I do from time to time. that's a great ad. i well remember watching that game just to see that ad - as so many geeks did. probably set a record that day for highest number of 6502 assembly programmers to ever watch the super bowl. Excuse me now while i go post a message on the BBSs about how cool that ad was.
October 4, 2006 9:17:33 AM

Thanks I'll check them out.

These latest TV ads for C2Q prove that Intel's ad agency is composed of latte-quaffing Gucci-loafered coke-nosed buttheads. If they really wanted to get the point across all they'd have to do is run this:

I'm not American but I still think the Mustang is the coolest!!, BTW that has nothing to do with your comparison
October 4, 2006 4:36:26 PM

haha, the new mac ads are ghey, but mac users are funny...I have a friend who self pwns himself all the time, he is a hardcore mac user and has never owned a pc (and probably never will) but hes also a hardcore gamer and does most of his gaming on his mac   trust me, I've tried to convert him several times, the conversation always goes something like this:

ME: "macs suck for games d00d, u could build a kick ass gaming pc for 1/4 what u paid for your mac"
HIM: "PCs are ghey"
ME: "99.99999999% of mac games are just ports from PC, so they run like ass even on top of the line macs"
HIM: "PCs suck"
ME: "there are like 1000x more games for PC and you can actually find them at normal stores"
HIM: "my mac has dual procs"
etc
etc
etc

maybe he'll get somewhat smart and get a C2D mac and dual boot XP

Hip marketing, they are selling their products to a new generation of users, this is what gets their attention.

No denying the Bugatti will rip yer face off but it has'nt got the x-factor thing for me, the Mustang just floats my boat in a different way 8)

I think they suck. Pentium 4 Blue Man ads were good :D  I've never seen the Mariah/Intel ads, but just found it on Youtube. Interesting. More so than Multiply.
October 8, 2006 11:53:57 PM

Why do people dislike macs? They're pretty nice. Sure, there's less programs out there, but they're really cool. I don't own one or use one, but I'm impressed with them. And those commercials about Mac vs PC needs to stop calling Windows computers "PC". A PC can run Linux...

Intel wouldn't do that because they need at least some suckers to clean up their leftover Prescott inventory.

Agreed, Mac's are just over-priced bunch of crap, Before it use to be a rip off with IBM processers but now it's Just plainly Over-priced Looking at all the Components inside and how much it would cost for you to put it togeather yourself. The OS of which it defines it as "apple" is a bunch of crap< Built for and appropirately put as
"Intel Inside, Idiots Outside"
October 9, 2006 12:36:33 AM

Could they have not found decent looking girls to peddle their wares with? Frankly, the brunette girl just scares me, she's bloody freaky looking.

OSX > Windows

Macs come with some really great bundled software (IE: iLife), including a DVD player (Windows doesn't come with that; you gotta pay extra), music-making software (GarageBand; great program), and iMovie (far, far superior to Windows Movie Maker).

Most of us PC users would only remotely consider using a Mac is if Apple Bundled "iporn"-free file sharing Program into OSX, Then i'd gladly switch operating platforms** P.S It's gotta be totally Unrestricted and totally unmonitored (no viruses and bad things like Windows remember)

Intel should hire Apple's marketing people... Intel's current commercials are terrible... especially when you consider what a great product they have (at the present)
October 9, 2006 2:42:31 PM

The latest 'Switch to Mac' ads suck. So have all the ones in the past.
October 9, 2006 4:12:34 PM

I hope you guys are never in advertising because you really suck at it.

Abstract but highly sexualized ads ALWAYS sell. Better than straight to the point vanilla sh!t you guys want, especially when the product is not quite easy to understand for most casual PC users (aka 85% of the world).

WTF - do you want bar graphs?

Second, they are not selling the actual product but the BRAND NAME. Like 'Intel Inside' or the signature sound FX at the end.

This is what aunt May will remember when ordering from Dell and Gateway - not a f@cking percentile number it had over AMD FX or Pentium D.

Do you even know how much of the population know what a CPU does?? All they will ask the Dell dude is does it have a Core 2 processor.

Sad but true :? If a guy from Marketing asked for demographics of Computer buyers most would be Blondes and Old people. Computers have lost their purpose of use, They are only used for for MEssenger and Email and the occational Porn(speaking of average computer user). About more than half don't even game on them   .

Btw, I saw some Digg article that discussed those two people in the commercial... in reality the PC guy is an incredibly smart guy... the Mac guy is just a struggling actor. Perhaps there is some truth in marketing.
