I need help trying to make NFSHS work on Win XPSp2

Hi,
I'm trying to make NFSHS run on my WinXPsp2 machine & a radeon 9800 pro
video card.
Here is what appens, I can see the progress of installation, install the
icon on the screen but after that the screen becomes black.
After a 15 minute wait things don't change so I hit ctrl+alt+canc and have a
look at what's going on...
I recognize the 3data.exe which I remember been related to NFSHS so I
terminate it and a window pops up telling me that installation has
successfully been completed.
I reboot the pc and proceed installing the Spotptch following the
instructions provided.
I reboot another time and the launch the game but either way I choose, from
the icon or from the cd, the cd starts spinning but absolutely nothing
happens, I can wait for 10 minutes but nothing happens.
Any help would be really appreciated, thanks
