8) Hello !!!

I need a upgrade for my PC... you know any link that compares Allendale against Denmark? That's the question: as they choose?
AMD Opteron 175 or Intel C2D E6300?

8) Thanks !!!

Opteron 175 = X2 4400+ = X2 4200+.
E6300 is cooler, faster (a little shy of X2 4600+ performance), and overclocks a lot better.

and better potential upgrade path for the near term future choosing Intel too...

The Opteron 185 would be faster, but at that point you're at the price of an X6800, which would be quite faster than the Opteron 185.

Intel has got AMD beaten as far as price, performance, technology, heat and power issues and even future upgrade paths are concerned...

but I still like my Opty 175 running at 2.64GHz

An old saying in the world of computers goes something like this: "They don't stay on top for more than 2months, there's always something better the next day"
That's regarding to performance/$, and maximum performance once scaled to maximum obtainable.

Soon C2D will have its fair share in performance/$ and it'll be time to move onto another. And it's a lot sooner than you think.

With technology, there's always something bigger and better on the horizon.
