Here's the story. I just reformated, installed all my drivers, but for God only knows what reason my speakers aren't being detected and I'm not even getting a volume control. Anyone have any idea what could cause this?

Check the Bios if you have integrated sound.
If you have a PCI card, it should show in Device Manager.
You might want to move the card to a different PCI slot.
I had a system where windows would automatically turn off sound to the computer for no reason.
Check if your speakers are functioning with another computer. Make sure you plugged them into the right port (usually green) and make sure they are powered on.
