Renaming a drive

I have two hard drives in my computer, one of them is C, and the other is F. I would like to make the F, D instead is there a procedure to doing this?

More about renaming drive
  1. Go to Disk Management, you can change the drive letter there.
  2. That is (in more words):

    Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management ->Storage->Disk Management

    Right click the partition you want, and change the drive letter.

    Warning: if you installed something on that drive, you may have to reinstall it because of the drive letter change. Also, shortcuts that point to that drive will not work afterwards.
  3. Thanks for the details.
  4. Thank you, I've left the drive empty because I assumed that would happen
  5. The path is : Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management ->Storage->Disk Management .
  6. If you re-letter you OS partition Windows will not longer function properly. The same may be true of any partition to which you installed software.
