I already ordered me parts for a new rig with ASUS 7900GS as grafics card.
Now I got a problem. It seems that the ASUS deliveries are delayed (looks like 18th of Oct at the moment). I've got every other component ready for delivery, except the grafics card. Now there are 2 other 7900GS's available with much shorter deliverytimes:
Should I get either one of those 2 instead of waiting for ASUS?
The MSI card is with passive cooling and I am wondering if that is enough for 7900GS. It will be in a well ventilated case Antec p180. I am not planning to add any extra cooling for the case, maybe just move the PSU-tunnel fan to the topside as an intakefan.
I concur. I have the P180, and I moved my fan up. I had to take the HDD rack out, but if I shaved the fan a bit, it would all fit. It wasn't worth the effort for me b/c I don't need that rack right now. Anyway, the case is nicely ventilated, so I wouldn't worry about cooling.
You might think about the X1900 GT, as it is generally a better card for the same price. I tend to be an Nvidia fanboy, but right now, ATI has more bang for your buck. Still, there's nothing wrong with the 7900GS. Good luck on your build.

Yeah, I've heard that, but that x1900GT costs more and this 7900GS is already a bit more expensive than I was willing to go. Also the X1900 I might consider has a 2-4 week delivery time from the shop I'm using.
I might be able to get it from elsewhere, but i'd like to buy everything from the same place in case something doesn't work. Then all my complaints can be directed into the one and same shop.
The only thing I have to say it's that the Asus 7900gs it's a very quiet card. And a very good performer, plays though titles with ease, but you have to grab 2 gigs of ram to play GRAW, wich is the bundled game.
