I want to build a system with an E6600 conroe. I also want to run Geforce 7950gx2...just one. I like what I see when I look at theabit aw9d-max, but I have heard that this board cannot effectively run the 7950...is this true??

The other board I was looking at was P5W DH Deluxe. This one I have heard that people get problems with no posting, and something about bios having to be updated to recognize core 2 duo processors.

To be honest I would like to have the Abit because I have used abit since i ever started building computers. I just need someone out there with experience to tell me if i will run into problems and need to go another route. I want to enjoy games at higher resolutions...I don't want SLI though. I have about $1500 to spend on a psu, motherboard, processor, video board and ram. Please send me any opinions or ideas. They would mean alot to me.

Thanks

If you are not going to use Crossfire or SLI, why look at 2xPCIE 16 mobos? Paying a lot of money for an extra slot that will never get used.

Check out the Gigabye P965-DS3, Abit AB9 Pro, Asus P5B-E.

ohhh whoops i'm sorry.

I meant that I don't want to use SLI/crossfire right away. I want to leave the possibility of that open for down the road...

Go with Abit AB9 Pro, E6600, Antec 550W PSU or OCZ 700W if you want more power for future, Corsair DDR2 800MHz CAS3 (although you don't need tight timings and high speed for C2D, you will get a better overclock and more stable system if you're into overclocking/you got the money). What I would suggest is going with a Sapphire X1900XT for a video card (and i'm a bit of Nvidia fan). You get a more crisp look to your games with the X1900 and the 7950GX2 has not shown its potential in benchmarks, plus a huge difference in price. With the X1900XT, you might still be able to save some money to squeeze in a DX10 Card later on down the road when DX10 has matured, while still running an amazing card.

Well that changes things, doesn't it?

Gigabyte 965P-DQ6, DFI 975X/G are good options. The AW9D-MAX is a sweet looking board, pretty new though.
