I'm attempting to install XP Pro on a new system, with the following specs:

E6300
2 gigs Corsair XMS2 ram
Gigabyte DQ6 Mobo
Several SATA hdds
pci xpress vid card
etc

After the beginning of the installation after the files load, and it says "Starting Windows", which is right before the manual part of the installation, i get the Blue Screen of Death. I get the Stop error msg, 0x0000007b.

Apparently my system isn't recognizing any of my hard drives? That's the only thing i've come to the conclusion on. The DQ6 Mobo didn't come with any floppy disks with drivers, but i read somewhere that i might have to install RAID drivers to install windows on a SATA drive.

Has anyone ran into this problem?

start with a bios flash. THen check bios to see if everythign is detected. If the DQ6 is anything like hte DS3, i shouldnt require sata drivers.

First, how do you flash a BIOS?

Second, won't a BIOS flash void any warranty?

well seeing how your talking to me, you can get online from another pc. Ok go to the gigabyte website www.gigabyte.com.tw and find your board. download the newest bios and put it to floppy. Next boot your pc into bios and in the bottom left corner it will tel u a button to push to run q-flash. Do that and follow on screen instructions.

No as long as you use manufacturer released bios you are perfectly under warranty.

C’est magnifique, mais ce n’est pas la guerre.

A BIOS flash doesn't void the warranty. Its considered a firmware upgrade, completely in your users agreement. As a matter of fact its recommended in certain cases.
The BIOS update should come with instructions. Follow them to the letter. You'll need a flash drive or a floppy disk

First, make sure the JMicron controller (Gigabyte calls is something else, like GRAID or something) is set to IDE mode (or ATA, not RAID) before installing windows. Also make sure the onboard Intel controller doesn't have any RAID features enabled, and then do your installation.
