I'm using the above NEC monitor paired with an ATI RADEON 8500DV graphics card. I want to do 1920X1440, but when I select that setting the screen just grows beyond the edge of the monitor. You can use the mouse to slide the screen around. Who would want to use a desktop like this?

Is there a way of using this monitor to do native 1920X1440?

native mode(s) is the recommended resolution(s) and refresh rate(s) of the monitor (probably 1600X1200 85hz for 21" class).

you may have virtual desktop mode (don't know the exact term) enabled. check your display/monitor settings or ati settings and return it to normal mode.

the nec you have should do the resolution, though it's image may not be the optimal (not native).

Quality is better than name brand, even regarding beloved AMD.
