TV capture software?

Have yet to find decent windows software for my tv tuner. Always crashing.
Put linux on there and no more problems.

your right about windows crashing, i cant even record or it will crash. I was thinking about switching to linux but it seems like too much of a hassle. I dont intend to capture much video so do you know any good xp programs that won't crash as much?

You would most likely have to purchase something. Honestlly the software that came with my card and some free ones I found were all I tried before just putting it in a linux box.

As far as commercial software sorry I dont have any idea what to reccomend to you.

Check out the trials of Beyond TV and SageTV. I'm not sure if they will work with your specific tuner though.

If you read his post's you would see he says it keeps crashing when he trys to record with it. I had the same problem with my card. They dont put decent software on them cards. It's just enough to sell it.

I have an avermedia myself which was highly reccommended at the time I purchased it and the crappy software kept crashing when I tried to record as well. The hardware works fine its just the software that sucks which is why hes looking for better software.

maby a solution to your problem is just to unistall the software and the crd drivers.
reboot and install from the beginning.
usually the cards works fine with the software they came with.
personaly when i try third party software i dissapoinded,it did not work.i use original software.
also check for drives updates.

Well i can record if i use the remote for some reason but it still crashes randomly. It doesn't record audio though and it records too narrow at whatever settings I try. It's a very bad program and the site doesnt update because they made new version. Is there any good free programs or do i have to buy it?

great topic ...you`ve just hit the red spot .....many of us have a tv tuner ..and many of us tried in vane to find a good software for tv recording.....

i`ve always had tv-tuners .. and have always tried to find the best recording software ..for tv-tuners....

my best choice will be iuvcr ...you`ll find it on google ...trial of course ....
this software detects ... any tv-tuner ...from 848 series , 878 series ..to the most recently 883 series...

and of course there is virtual dub and many others ...but i like iuvcr for recording ..and virtual dub for editing

I use GBPVR. it is free and works with most Tv cards and remotes. it also has a tv guide for easy recording of Tv.


I have had zero problems with the software . also does your card had hardware MPEG 2 encoding. my old card did not and it crashed alot .. buy if you get a card with the ATI 550 chip set then you will not have as many problems

well good programs are never free my friend .... try this trial iuvcr ..i think it reached 4.13.xx..and if you like it you buy it

also i recomend new drivers .....

i`m not sure i had a tv tuner with original drivers working perfectly :tongue:

Linux is free   Once I put my card on a linux box my problems went away.

then the settings are not configured propertly.
check the audio settings?

i use line-in option for my configuration.

well i finally got some time to try out some programs. I couldnt get any of them to work but the mythtv looked pretty good. But when i tryed to download it, I got a bunch of files and it said I had to confire myself or something. Does it have a regular install and if so can I please have link?

I haven't really tried anything with the audio problem because it could just be the program.

also, does anyone know how to clean up the quality? my cable is split for my other room so the qualitys not too great.
