Well Amd64 4000+ runs great for overclocking there getting hard to find now though.

Any of the OCZ memory has been great for overclocking in my experience and i used the "gold series" stuff.

If your looking to take an AMD to 3 GHz you will need watercooling.
Not true. A X2 3800+ has can reach 3.1Ghz with a Zalman 9500 and the Foxconn 590 mobo...
But this isnt the way to go.

Go with the cheapest DDR2 800 4-4-4-12 2x1GB kit, and OC it to ~500+Mhz CL5. Stay clear from the Gskill PK tough because this is kinda of a hit and miss when OCing.

Get the X2 4200+, itll be easier to reach 3Ghz with it.

EDIT: And of course you will need excellent cooling that your TT kit should provide.

After all this it will be pretty much up to your motherboard. Happy overclocking!

It isnt neccesary but if you can shell out some bucks for them itld be great. DDR2 1066 should become the next standar for memory. This GeiL GX22GB8000UDC kit is the best in the market due to its CL4.
But im not sure if youll be able to reach much higher than the stock due to CPU limitations. You should reseach on this.
