I am looking at replacing my x850 b4 christmas, my current question is any point going for a 1900gt over a 1800xt if they are the same price ?? checked a few benchies & the 1800 seems to be faster overall...
If they are the same price, and if you can find the x1800xt, it is the better deal. Finding one in stock is getting harder to do each day. (that and finding one near a GT price.) The cards are pretty close however, I wouldn't worry about either one.
What kind of games are you playing? I would think that the x1800xt would be better overall, but that is just my opinion. I have an x1800xt and it has been very good for me. If I'm not mistaken the x1900gt is supposed to fit between an x1800xt and x1900xt, but I'm not 100% sure on that. What is your system that your running this on? Sometimes size, heat, power limits can make a difference in a purchase (at least for me, since I'm on a tight budget).
okay, just got more complicated...i was all set to buy the 1800xt when i read a wee article called x19550pro due out oct 17th, thats said to be faster than the 1900gt that its replacing... arrrggghhh
so wait for the 1950pro for a week or continue with 1800xt purchase ?? :?
Seeing as the x1900gt is a touch slower then the x1800xt, I vote for it doesn't matter. If the x1950pro is faster, it only brings the value x1900 series back up to x1800xt territory. Depending on what is changed, it might put the x1950pro above the x1800xt, but I doubt by a lot. If you want now, buy the x1800xt. If you need a single slot card, or don't mind waiting a bit, then go with the x1950pro.
