Hi :) Currently I'm running an Ati Radeon X1600 Pro video card, but I've decided this is not fast enough for me anymore, so it's time for an upgrade. I'm thinking about the 7900 GS PCI-E, since it's offering nearly the same level of performance of a 7900 GT at a sweet price point.

Thing is, I've only got a Pentium 4 2.8Ghz OC'ed to 3.2Ghz - will this be enough CPU horsepower for the 7900GS to run optimally?

I just wanted to get a bit more gaming performance from this machine before I build a new machine in about a years time.

Thanks! :)

If i were your i'd get the 7900GTO or 1900XT 256mb. Faster 1900XT and close runner GTO with step up program from EVGA when the new cards come out. GTO prices are back down to $245, cheaper than the 1900XT $260 from newegg.

OR you can just wait a month and see what happens :D

What you have now is fine. Save your money for your new matchien. The X1600 is more then enough for now. The next gen video cards will be out in a couple of months so there is no need to invest in a new card just yet.

I agree. The x1600pro is still a decent card. Will indefintely hold you over till the arrival of DX10. Good Luck. :D
