I don't get the fanfare on this Kickstarter. I've been doing this to my Android phones since v2.0

First, buy the Six-Axis app from Google Play and synchronize a PS3 controller to your phone.

Second, buy a USB to HDMI cable. Specialist stores and online stores have these.

Third, ???

Fourth, Profit! =/

second, root...

^most people feel much safer buying something like this than rooting their phone

You can buy the ready-made experience and just get to playing games or you can get there on your own with your own equipment.

Not only that, but how many people honestly care about portability of a "console" beyond the novelty of it?

Yup, it's a pretty dumb thing to aim for. Job #1 should not be portability for a device that's only going to leave your entertainment center maybe twice in it's life.

because this isnt a phone? not everyone wants to buy a 600-800 (off contract) device just to play games.

It doesn't have to be a phone. You can do the same thing with a lot of other Android devices, like tablets for example.

ok, i dont want to spend 4-800$ on a tablet to play a game...

right now on their kickstarter its 70$ to get one.

a tablet even the cheapest ones i can think of are 200$ and a controller is about 20-60$

You wouldn't get an Android phone or tablet just to play games on it, but there are a lot of people who already own one of those things, and those are the people he is talking about. If you don't already own an Android device, then obviously his comment isn't directed at you.

said he didnt get what was so special about it, so i pointed it out.
than brought up tablets.

i may be assumeign there are alot of people like me who just use a phone as a phone, have a camera that is a real camera and not a pos that is stuck to a phone, and when we want a console we wont just use the phone.

its special because it does what that 600-800$ phone, or 200+ tablet does, for 70$

if gameing really does go android (most likely) or ios, i refuse to buy an android phone or an ios phone, and would require something like this.
