How to save files from mac apple laptop to hp hard drive

i bought an HP hard drive and i want to store my files, music, picture on it but i cannot save or drag it from my mac apple laptop. what will i do to make it work? need help..thanks

you can either format your hp drive to fat32 (older file system) but the maximum file size will be limited to 4gigs or you can use Mac Paragon which will install NTFS (file system) drivers so you can read and write to the drive

Or, more sensibly if you are only going to use it on a Mac, use disk utility to format it as an OS X Extended drive. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3509
