Ok, I'm going to be getting a socket AM2 mobo, and I see these dual core opterons:
AMD Opteron 1210 Santa Ana 1.8GHz Socket AM2
AMD Opteron 1212 Santa Ana 2.0GHz Socket AM2
How would those compare to an X2 4800+?

Also, would either be compatible with this? Or would I need to get a server motherboard?

Does anyone know?

The DFI INFINITY NF ULTRAII-M2 supports Athlon 64 X2/Athlon 64 FX/Athlon 64. It should though support the Opteron processors. Matching HT speed. 1Ghz to 1Ghz.
Sorry for the belated response.

After lurking around the various forums the ongoing consensus is that the DFI boards are really good although I can't speak from personal experience because I've never owned or worked with one.

P.S well done for sticking to your guns over your CPU choice. :trophy:
