Hi, I'm new to the PC world.

I never knew there would be so much stuff to learn!

I recently built a new computer consisting of a socket 939 [I'm so sad for not waiting for AM2], and 2 gigs of RAM.

I was wondering HOW to overclock my processor.

I'm running a 4400+, with a stock fan.

Can someone run me through the steps please?

I would also like to overclock my video card and RAM, but I want to get used to my processor first. Can anybody help?

well it depends on what ram and mobo you have as to how much you will get out of the cpu but basicly it is a case of increasing the fsb in the bios by a few incremencs, 3-5 seems populare then testing the stablity of your pc while monitoring your temps.

what graphics card have you got as that may be a good place to start if you have an ati card then you could get the omiga drivers and play about with the overclocking it that its simple and relitivly safe there are lots of guides on the net just google it!

Here are some easy to follow guides:

Read the warnings. Then read through them again, and again. Yep, one more time. Alright, that is eno.....nope, one more time.

As much as I support overclocking, please read the warnings. I don't want you to f**k up your system. The key to things is to take it slow, and watch your temperatures. Do not raise the voltage unless you have to, that is where the real danger lies in overclocking.

After that long warning, enjoy! If you need any more help, there are plenty of overclocking experts to go around.

(yes, I do know that my computer is not overclocked - no need to right now)

you need to go into the BIOS, and up the FSB by 2-5mhz at a time, there are some threads on here, do not know them off hand, but slowly rasie it, run Prime95 to test stability, run for 20 minutes then go up a little bit more, if at any time it crashes, or resets itself, try uping the voltage a little bit, .025v at a time and see if that increases stability. also your temps need to be monitored at all times. Speedfan is a good program that can monitor temps, and CPUz to monitor the speed of you cpu. i would try and stay under 70c with stock fan. maybe Wussy can help a little more but those are the basics of ocing your computer, and ill help you with graphics if you want also
