i have an amd 4200+ am2 and tried to OC it. i got it up to 2.42 and it ran stable(ran prime, 3dmark). when i tried to bump up the fsb some more it rebooted. so i changed it back to where it was stable.

now all my cpu does is keep rebooting on its own. it gets to the windows logo and keeps rebooting. i tried last good known settings and nothing.
someone please help me out...

Have you tried just shutting the computer off and letting it cool down? Sometimes that'll do the trick. It is strange that it gets all the way to the XP load screen just to reboot. Also, check to see if your BIOS has an auto-shut down feature and check to see what the temp ceilng for the CPU is set at.

thanks.... my bios does have an auto-shut down feature. i let it cool down for a while and messed with the bios settings and got it to start. it was the 1st time i had seen that problem on the logo screen.
right now i have it oc'd to 2.45. im sure i will have to buy a better heatsink/fan to get it to 2.5 or greater.

which one would be a good one at a fair price? was looking at the artic cooling 64 pro its $29.99 on newegg. what do you guys think?
getting my cpu to 2.6 is my goal.

I'd say regular forum goers would claim the 64 pro to have the best price /performance ratio. It does it's job well and is only 2-4C warmer than the $50 counterparts from what I've seen.
