Ok, I've read some reviews on the 7950 GT (300 buck version) and how they stacked up, but I haven't seen any reviews on them in SLI configuration. how will sli'ing these puppies stack up to a single 7900GTX and so on. Maybe tomshardware will put an update on the VGA charts some time soon.

Its newer, but with the 7900GTO its just not worth the buy i dont think. If you can get the GTO higher than the GT for cheaper, i dont see why not buying the card. Its supply and demand i would think.

Yes, the 7900GTO can be OC'd but it can't be OC'd to GTX speeds on all cards. Some can, some can't. Luck of the draw.

If you are into OC'ing then the 7900GTO is the way to go. But the X1900XT 256MB is best bang for the buck. See here.

Even an OC'd 7900GTO will not beat the X1900XT 256MB in Oblivion but if you look at Doom3, Quake4 or the such then the 7900GTO would be the way to go. Here.

all the 7950GT is a a higherclocked 512mb 7900GT, no other difference,

the 7900GTO is just a lower clocked GTX, i'm sure nvidia had plenty of GTX's left over, so now they are lowering the clock speeds on ones that didnt meat spec or even ones that did to move some inventory
