Just a quick one, if you are using Windows Vista and want to get 3D game performance a little closer to XP, then disable the Aero interface... The Aero interface, even if you can not see a single pixel of the desktop, takes a considerable amount of GPU performance to render the desktop... The Aero interface is the single biggest decelerator in the new OS…

well I suppose it makes a change having 1 big decelerator rather than hundreds of little ones.

Thanks for the tip though.

Oh, no, there are still hundreds of little ones.

It's just that Aero is the biggest ;)

Aero also takes up RAM, so killing Aero frees up RAM so games can use more. That's why I would recommend 4gb of RAM for Vista with Aero.

Quick question, I only ran Vista in a VM machine so gamin was out of question.

Usually when I game under XP, I kill most of the process including explorer.exe.

Under vista, if I kill explorer.exe, will it also remove the aero process?

Just being curious as I dont have any desktop until christmas because I'm out of town until then, no way I'll be playing with RC2 on my laptop...
