Hy all.
I was wondering what to choose:

DIMM 512Mb DDR2 PC-5300 667MHz Samsung = 45$
OR
DIMM 512Mb DDR2 PC-5300 667MHz GeIL DDR2 CL4 Radiator = 86.9$

The system will be something like this:
Asus P5B-DLX
Intel E6300
SATA II HDD 160gb
Audigy4
128 mb/128bits video card (i don't know yet)

Thank you.

I just guessing, since there isn't enough info on the memory, but it looks to me that the Geil memory probably has better initial timings than the Samsung memory. The CL4 refers to the cas latency of the memory, please correct me if I'm wrong. So that would be my guess, but you don't give us more specifics on the memory information.

this is what it writes on my offer. i will call them and ask what CL has the samsung one.
thanx anyway
by the way any problems with Samsung memories? I know that are very good quality. am i wrong?
Cheers

Usually you can just email them requesting the manufacturers part # or something like that. With that information you can pull of the web the particular specifications that you would be interested in.

The Samsung is probably CL5. The question is whether the price difference is worth it (don't know to say for myself).

If the $40 for a small performance increase means much to you, then go for the GeIL. But if you are willing to spend more money I would sugest at least 1GB

I think a 7600GT would serve you nicely for a video card, as they are cheap but good

Could you post your budget?

Quick question: Do you plan on over-clocking?

Because if you don't I would suggest you to go for DDR2-533 (PC2-4200) modules.

You see, there's this "thing" about Core 2, that if you don't go for a DDR2-667 with the tightest timings possible, you're better off with DDR2-533. You'll get better performance.

Here's a link on this subject (just because I am too lazy to write it down myself :) ):
