I have a Thinkpad A31p that's showing signs of its age. Instead of trashing it, I hoped it would be good for something.
Since it has a built-in modem, I was thinking of using it as a fax server on my network. And with a battery, it would have its own uninterrupted power supply!
So I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on keeping a laptop on 24/7. There've beeen plenty of times I've left it on for several days at a time. However, I've no experience with anything more than 5 days in a row.
Also, I'd like to know if anyone has any idea how many watts my laptop would require 24/7.
So, to summarize:
1. Any adverse effects of keeping a laptop on 24/7/365?
2. How much wattage would this require (at idle and at max)?
Thanks very much!
