got all the informatiom via cpu-z program

Intel Celeron D 3.2 GHz / 533mhz FSB
Code Name:Cedar Mill
L2 Cache= 512KB
MMX,SSE, SSE2, SSE3, EM64T
1GB pc3200 ram
has pci express slot - empty

or

AMD Athlon XP +3200 2.2Ghz / 400mhz FSB
Code Name:Barton
L2 Cache= 512KB
MMX (+), 3dNOW! (+), SSE
1GB pc2700 ram
8X agp slot has ATI 9800 pro 128MB

also i was wondering if it was worth buying and putting a ATI Radeon 1900GT 256MB pci express card in the celeron pc and game on it. i play games like Battlefield 2, bf1942, cod2, farcry.

thx

I'd go with the Celeron because of the faster RAM, but it has on-board, although it does have PCIe and the ability be better, because of this. The AMD conversely has better architecture and is a better chip, has a AGP card which isn't all that bad, but, has the AGP which is outdated, and uses slower RAM.
I hazard a guess and go with the Celeron.

EDIT: Read Ceder Mill and thought it was the P4 my bad.

the celeron isn't a good performer.

But then...it's pretty a wast to put a x1900 with this kind of cpu.

i would prefer a athlon64 3000+(overclocker a bit)+a 7900gs

1st both these CPU should bottleneck the video,I dont think it will be to a point where it's totaly useless to get that card, and you can always use it down the line, but it wont perform exactly like it should!

- I beleive both CPu should be comparable, a bit hard to tell.

That Xp3200+ was about the speed a of a P4 - B 3.2ghz, the P4 - C 3.2ghz was a bit faster.

Having the same amount of cache as the P4 - C but with a slower FSB, should make it a tad slower than the Barton. On the other hand you can get PCIe with the P4 where your stuck with AGp with the barton...

For gaming I would normally take the Athlon. But just having AGP will limit your graphics card choices.

If you plan on getting into media encoding or even if you do alot of multitasking - I would go with the Celeron.

honestly i would go with the intel setup just to stay away from AGP, even tho the other one comes with a video card.
