Title says it all.....Gigabyte 965 S3 mobo, Zalman 9500, plan on OC'ing and gonna try to hit 2.8 on a 6300.

Since the 9500 blows air out the back of the case and not on the mobo like the 7700 flower-style HSF, should I get separate heatsink/fan on the northbridge to keep it cooler?

If so, any suggestions as to what product?

Much appreciated.

If you want a better north bridge cooler then look up Thermalright HR-05 or HR-05-SLI. These are pretty good coolers, not to mention it's size is pretty big . It could almost be used as a cpu cooler. Now this n/b cooler can be fitted with an 80mm or smaller with a use of zip ties. I almost got this for my n/b but I managed to place an 80mm fan on my stock heatsink and got the temps really low compare to the stock fan for the north bridge heatsink.

Okay the difference of the two is that the SLI has the fins off set. This is so that it can be installed in n/b that sits close to the cpu socket so that it would not contact the cpu cooler or for the northbridge that sit close to the graphics card.

But do more research as with your mobo, cpu cooler, graphics cards and etc might not be compatible or would interface with the installation.

Don't forget to get yourself a good thermal paste like Artic Silver 5.
