I'll second the part about hard to find a good Journal app for Pocket
PC's. The application mentioned above is a part of the Pocket Informant
set of programs...you have to buy Pocket Informant, then install this
as an add on.
There's also CLC Journal for Pocket PC at
http://www.crownlogic.com/products/journal/index.htm
It's a stand alone Journal app that synch's with desktop Outlook's
Journal. Considering that this item is nearly $40 and the Pocket
Informant solution is $30 + $8 for the Journal add on, I think the
Pocket Informant solution is a better deal. (BTW, I'm a big fan of
Pocket Informant and highly recommend that software).
All that said, I actually recommend you NOT try to synch your Outlook
Journal to your Pocket PC. I'm a heavy user of desktop Outlook's
Journal for tracking work items, etc., and have tried for several years
to find a decent Pocket PC application to augment that effort.
Unfortunately, after many tries on quite a number of different Pocket
PC's, I've given up and I don't use either of the above applications --
even though I own copies of both.
The problems are that, unless you only have a small number of items in
you desktop Outlook Journal folder, the synch'ing takes FOREVER! For
me, it wasn't unusual to synch every other item on my Pocket PC in 30
seconds to a minute...and then take 10-15 minutes to synch the Journal
items. This performance issue afflicts both applications mentioned
above.
But what's worse, is that any significant number of Journal items
synch'ed to your Pocket PC (which is what makes it useful to synch
these things in the first place!) will overload the app's and they will
begin to malfunction. You'll get corrupt entries in your desktop
Outlook Journal folder, lockups when you try to synch, entries on the
Pocket PC that cause it to spontaneously reboot, etc., etc.
I think you get the picture...since I've wasted a lot of time on this
pursuit, I thought I'd try to save you the effort and give you the
bottom line. :-)
Hope that helps!
