I currently have a Dell Inspiron 8200 and would like to upgrade video processor. What would be the best I could do without spending tons of money?

well it depends does your PC have have PCI-E or AGP?
if PCI-E i would go with the gf7600GT it is a good card and its at around the $150-$170 price range...
there is also the ATI x1600pro which is cheaper.
or the x1650pro

I have one of these as well. It really depends on what card you currently have as well as your LCD.

The fastest card avaliable (if you can find it - try eBay) is the nVIDIA Quadro4 700 Go GL 64MB.

Check this link - http://www.bay-wolf.com/videoupgrade.htm - for more info and Dell part numbers.

I don't think that it's possible to upgrade the graphics on a laptop. It might be possible on a high-end Alienware or Dell XPS laptop, but probably not on such an old one.

Well for the majority of laptops out there, you are correct.

For the Dell Inspiron 8x00 though, they can be swapped out with other Dell parts. It's a very limited selection of course.

I doubt you can get any through Dell now, but eBay occasionally has a seller or two.

Thanks all for the response. Should I get a build from ground zero or do you think I could salvage some of my system? (like LCD screen 15" SXGA+-UXGA)?

You want to use your laptop parts to make a new computer ?
Good luck with that. Might be possible but I dont reccomend it.
Besides who wants a 15" monitor these days anyway ?
Personally I would not use anything smaller then a 19" unless I was forced to do so at the company I was working for unless its a laptop and even they have nice widescreens nowadays.

Edit: typo fix

I would say build a solid desktop for home, but keep your laptop for when you go places. Even if you could use your laptop parts for a desktop or something like that, it wouldn't help the video card issue.
