Hello,

Not much to disable with the keyboard. There are about 10 different kinds of keyboard contacts, from the old IBM clickable contacts to silent capacitance keys.

About all you can do is to disconnect it with your computer off, turn it upside down, and clean the "stuff" out of it with a can on compressed air.
If wireless, change the battery, disconnect and reconnect the plug once, that's about it. The keys do come off but you have to be familiar with the process of you can break them. The most common failure with a keyboard is a key contact that doesn't work reliably.

There is a scanning chip inside that converts the keystrokes to code your computer can use. It can fail but nowhere near the rate of 110 +- moving keys being punched all the time.

If you continue to have keys "drop out" just replace it, or better yet, invest in a nice wireless keyboard/mouse combination.
