Oblivion keeps freezing (WOW said unable to start DirectX)

2 GB (No VM)
EVGA 123-K8-NF47-AX SLI 16X Motherboard
EVGA 7900 GT KO (500/750(1500))

Oblivion keeps freezing up my system randomly. I can play for about as long as half an hour or as short as about ten minutes. I am playing at 1024x768 with everything maxed (bloom and AA (can't live without AA)) except for shadows.

What I find interesting is when I went to look for updates to WOW (getting my account back in a couple days) it said "World of Warcraft was unable to start up 3D acceleration. Please make sure DirectX 9.0c is installed and your video drivers are up to date."

Everything about that alert is met of course and I just got this motherboard so the system is freshly installed. I'm not using any additional datafiles either.

Any ideas?

Could you please be a little more specific? I'm talking about Oblivion and don't care about WOW at the moment.

Don't know about Oblivion.

I got that same error from WoW when I was using a 2nd monitor at a higher resolution (1920x1080). When I switched back to my usual monitor (1280x1024) I guess it couldn't achieve the higher res, so it gave that error instead.
