I've done a lot of reading and research, and I really want to get something super top of the line. The only thing im not sure about is getting the proper ram and motherboard. I don't really plan on overclocking, but may in the future when the hardware starts showing its age, so I don't want to discount it. Anyway, this is what ive picked out so far. I plan on going for sli with the new geforce cards, and if its possible, to use the 7950 for physics stuff. It sounds like it would be possible to do this in the future and with this setup. I don't really care about price too much, aside from the obvious not wanting to flagrantly throw money away on expedited order processing and what-have-you. PLEASE keep in mind, im not trying to brag about this, just want to make sure im doing this right and would like a little insight. Thanks!

Looks good. That's a great mobo from what I've heard. The only flaw I see is the 7950GT (I'd say 1950XTX for super high end), but since you are intent on getting SLi for it go for it! :D

Good luck with your build! ;)  That PC will pwn!!!

I did ATI in my last gaming rig, a 9800xt, and I have a few issues with their driver support (mainly with older games). A few games like neverwinter nights and jedi academy had slowdown issues when transparancy was involved and i played the same things on a geforce 5600 and they worked flawlessly. Something about ATI just never sat well with me. I've always had geforce cards since the geforce 256, and ive never had ANY complaints.

Ah I see. A 7950GT is pretty good, although a 7900GTX is better. The 7900GTX is $373 though. How about the 7900GTO? It's the same as the 7900GTX only with slower clock speeds. The GTX/GTO have better cooling too. I think you should get a 7900GTO by EVGA

Cheaper than 7950GT with better cooler and faster. They are a limited run, so get them fast!

my concern with that card, or the monster 7950 gx2, is their width. Would I be able to pull of having sli 8800 gtx, the 3rd dual-slot video card, the sound card, and a possible other card without having space issues? I know the 8800's are long, but that shouldn't be a problem with the case im getting. If i could fit everything in there though id totally rock the 7950 gx2. I have an acer 24" LCD monitor thats begging to have oblivion on it.

The 7900GTO won't fit in your system? Hmm...ok, nothing wrong with your system then. I thought the board gave you enough space for dual-slot cooling GfX cards in SLi? I dunno, you'd have to ask someone experienced for that

From what I've read, and I read hardware forums daily, you want dual 7900GTX's unless you're running games at very high res. You'll get more frames at lower res with the 7900GTX's than with two 7950's...unless they come out with new drivers to correct this. Also, Tom's gave the MSI props over the Asus board for the new Core 2's...*I think. I don't know a hell of a lot about ram but I was wondering if you were planning to overclock or not? But I think it's speed you're after I'd go ahead and get 4 modules (4 gigs) to spread bandwidth. I think they designed Vista to be able to use 16 gigs? (anyone correct me here). I'm running XP Pro 64 just because I'm still learning tons of stuff and love challenges. If anyone wants to add me to yahoo or msn and help walk me through overclocking some decent systems and teaching me be my guest. :-) I don't think my 3500ll pro is running at full potential. Oh and I also think that you might be better off spending money on two 1500ADFD raptors than on a fatality card. I have a Raid-0 setup with one of each of the 150 raptors (one clear cover) and also the fatality card...I believe there are lots of great sound cards out there that are much much cheaper, and hard drives are some of the slower parts around. Also, I've heard mixed opinions but am under the impression that Sata2 is worthless without faster hard drive speeds to support the transfer speed. I can't really tell because in my SLI system I've got two 8mb Sata2 drives and in my other the Sata1 raptors. But my configs besides that are completely different, processor speeds and mobos basically. I wrote a lot, looking for responses.

Wow, you must have a truckload of money.

Here are my only suggestions: The power that the X6800 offers is really unnecessary for the price. In my opinion, you'd be better off getting a cheaper chip E6600/6700 and if you really feel the need to have more power, overclocking it.

And the graphics card you picked out is insane, but with DirectX 10 around the corner, you might be better off getting something cheaper for now then getting one of the shiny new DX10 cards when they come out (sometime in December, I think).

for ocing it is better because you get unlocked multipliers

Were you talking to me? I'm in business college and my girlfriend spent over 5 years to become a nurse. We're doing ok. :-) (She makes as much if not more than both of my folks put together =P)

Oh, and I agree about the video cards...I'm waiting. I bought a 7800 GT CO SE just before the 7900's came out. (Doh!) I can play Oblivion at least. Anyone check out the new MS Flight Sim? Looks awesome. I'm getting it after I get Vista...probably. Depends on what other games come out to occupy my limited spare time. When is software going 64 bit? Why did we pay for the extra CPU string if it's not being put to use???

This one? download / Flight Simulator X Deluxe

That's the one. Is the arabic supposed to be a joke or is that just your nationality? I have to ask, because it's true that some flight sims could very well be used for other purposes...
Nice warez-type site too. I don't speak or read arabic languages but I can tell what it is. :-P
