Unfortunately, a lot of their desktop models, especially from the Dimension 8000/4000/3000/2000 series don't have temperature/fan/voltage monitoring.

i agree i have a couple of dells. older ones and they have no
temp monitoring software or hardware.

about the only way to get a temp reading would be to
go to sears and purchase a noncontact thermometor

i belive they are around 60$us

Really?

Heh, my old PII and PIII had health monitor systems.

How old is a Dell 3000?

So software apps like speed fan would not find any sensors?

zero at all. I tried for quite a while to find out my cpu temps among other things and came up with nothing on my Dimension 5150.

Yep, it's just not supported. And a non-contact thermostat would be difficult to use as you shouldn't run the machine without the cooler mounted. It'd get an ambient temperature of the air in the case or the motherboard, but even then you are measuring temps with the case open.
