Hi,

I have two unrsolved sync errors (one Calender, the other Task). Neither
one indicates any reference to actual calender or task entry. Is there
anyway of finding out which they are so that they can be deleted on PPC.

I'm running XP and Actsync 3.8

Thanks Gordon

Hi Gordon,

Search for a program called scanpst.exe. This is a small utility included
with Microsoft Outlook which will scan your *.pst file (the file that
contains your personal information) for possible corruption and attempt to
repair it. The default location of the file under Win XP:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\NT\scanpst.exe

Note: C: might need to be replaced with appropriate drive letter.

You will need to run it against the .pst file. If you are unable to locate
the path of the .pst file, do the following:

1. Open Outlook.
2. Click File -> Data File Management
3. This should list all the PST files that are present. Click Open Folder
and you should find the storage path of your *.pst file.

In addition, in Outlook there is a feature on the Help Menu called
Detect and Repair... This will scan your information for possible defects
and also attempt to repair the data.

Try the steps at http://BevHoward.com/ASync.htm#Resolve

....and report back what happens... am curious if this still works.

Raj and Beverly,

Thanks both for your comments, but for some reason this morning when I
sync'd, ActSync came up with the calender and tasks that could not be Sybc'd
so I just deleted them from my PPC and re-entered. Things OK after that.

If it happens again I'll try your solutions and report back.

Thanks again

Gordon

>> id'd the unresolvable items <<

would venture a guess that the dates on those were near or beyond the
"save interval" of the activesync calendar/tasks setting.

Berverly;

What's the "save interval"?

The calender date was set at 26 March 2005.

Thanks Gordon

Because of limited storage plus the slowdown by storing large amounts of
calendar events, the amount kept of the pocket pc is configurable.

open activesync and right click on "calendar" and select "settings" and
you will find the settings that control the range of calendar events
saved on the ppc.
