so i thought about ordering this ASUS M2N-E motherboard, but i read horrible reviews and experiences about it regarding random reboots/crashes and lots of RAM incompatibility problems.

i'm getting an x2 4200+ with some OCZ DDR2667 ram at 1.9volts because supposedly, this M2N-E can't handle more than 1.95volts as i've read.

what would you recommend me? is a bios update and correct ram choice enough for that to work?
any alternatives for that processor/ram?

thanks.

Whats your budget??
Will you be OCing??
Do you require 2 PCIe slots??
Do you require the new 500 chipsets or yould be okay with Nforce4??
Answer me this and youll get the perfect board for you :D

Don't know if you've already pulled the trigger on this, but you might want to look at the Epox MF570SLI

It has just about all the bling (except firewire) and overclocks well.

I've got a x2 4200 running at 2.6 with cheap DDR2 667 Ram.

There's a pretty good review on Anandtech.com

Board costs about 130, but it sells out fast on newegg and zip. Had to get it from MWave.

If your only doing mild overclocking or not at all, I recommend the board in my sig. ECS RS485M it is a very stable board for light OC'ing. Other then that, I would go with something from DFI personally. Don't spend too much on an AM2 board though... I still recommend going C2D for the ultimate bang for buck dual core system.

That first link I posted is for an Abit 6150/430 uAtx board that has raid, voltage for cpu goes to 2.0, ram to 2.5, stable at HT of 360. Unless you're wanting multiple GPU's or specifically want the 590's new NIC, it seems to be the biggest bang for the buck.
