I'm playing CS: Source and my fps is around 20-30 fps, which is pretty crappy, but I'm surprised my integrated video card could even run CS: Source.
Anyway, I'm upgrading and I wasn't sure how important pixel pipelines + memory interface are compared to core and memory speed.

GeForce 7300 GT 256 MB, 8 pix. pipe., 128-bit, 400 mhz clock, 700 mhz memory : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814141036

GeForce 7300 GS 256 MB, 4 pix. pipe., 64-bit, 550 mhz clock, 810 mhz memory:

And since I'm low on the dough right now, is the performance increase in the 7300 GT and GS worth the 15 extra dollars over the 6600 ? I mean, if it's going to get me 15-20 extra fps, then that's all good, but if it's just like 5-10, then I don't want to spend that extra money.

You should go for pixel pipelines and memory interface. Frequency can always be added later by overclocking. The first card you linked to is very nice. I would guess it would outperform the 6600, but not sure of how to prove it. The specs on the two are close, with the 7300GT having higher frequencies. An extra 15-20FPS? That depends on the res you play at. (might be 20% faster.)

The 8-pipe card is running at 400 Mhz, the 4-pipe clock would roughly have to run at 800 mhz to reach it.

Same thing with a 256-bit vs 128-bit memory interface. The 7300 GT is better.

Another card that's cheap to consider is the 12-pipeline X800 GTO... under $100 last time I looked, and faster than the 7300 GT and even the 7600 GS.

Agreed, the x800GTO on newegg retails for 87 bucks. The x1300xt and the GDDR3 version of the 7300GT is probably the 2nd best cards on there.

So would the extra 15 bucks be worth it if I were to buy the 7300 GT instead of the 6600?
I mean, they're both the same except the 7300 has a higher clock speed and GDDR2 instead of DDR.

thef0rce1swithme,

If I were you I'd spend a few extra bucks and get a 7600 GT, like these:

GOOD

BETTER

BEST 7600 GT

The x1300xt runs par with it for less. Otherwise its a decent card.
