A friend of mine is looking to upgrade his graphics card in December so he can play Battlefield 2 with me.

He wanted to get this:

But I was telling him to get this:

I know they're both PCI, but that's all he seems to have. He doesn't have the option of replacing a motherboard because his money is really tight. (He can only afford to upgrade the graphics at the moment, nothing else) I'm trying to figure out if he has an AGP slot, though.

In short, which is better? The X1300 or the 6200? I did a quick search on the two and the X1300 was clocked at 450 MHz with a 4x1x2 setup (Pipe, TMU, VPU) while the 6200 seems to be at 300 MHz with a 4x1x3 setup. From a pure mathematical standpoint, the X1300 seems to be superior, but I want a second opinion and possibly a suggestion for something cheaper or more effective.

Thanks!

Edit: Alright, I got him to show me what CPU Z says for him, I don't know if this will help any or not, but it seems likely that he doesn't have a graphics card

Didnt know that IBM makes motherboards. I cant find his motherboard so i cant tell if he has AGP or not.

Your friends PC is very old. I dont think ur going to be able to seriously play BF2 with a PCI graphics card..

But here is the comparison u wanted:

Those are pretty much the only cards u can get for PCI. Nothing else to recommand.

I didn’t know about this site. Excellent!
It compares specs all the way back to the Rage boards. I’m amazed.

Back on topic...

Based on his Chipset, his board supports AGP only: http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/865p/index.htm

It's the single greatest site for graphics cards enthusiests on earth.
It deserves a noble prize, seriously.

The creator of the site is a very nice guy names Mike and u can ask him anything abt graphics cards and get the best answer.
