Purchasing a new E6400, but should I wait?

Intel will be releasing quad-core Xeon's (I believe) on Nov 14th. I've got my eyes set on a E6400 Core 2 Duo (due to the mega-overclocking Tom's has done with one of those). The price is somewhere around $240 - $255 right now for an E6400, but... after the 14th of November, does anyone suspect the prices of all Core 2 Duo's will dip, or should I go ahead and get one now? The new quad-cores will probably be hella expensive, and if they are aimed at the upper-segment of the market, then I suspect the more "sanely" priced Core 2 Duos' price will not be affected at all. What does anyone else think?

Where are you located? Newegg has the E6400 for $220

I believe that you are correct in that assumption. The price of the Core 2's won't drop by anymore than $20 for a while. Intel has the price right where they want it to be.

Yup. Rumoured release prices for C2Q are high enough not to impact C2D price structure significantly.

Again, this is unverifiable rumor (from The Inq) at this point.

Or better still... a Xeon 3040 with 4MB cache for $200...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819117102

Eagerly awaiting DaSickNinja's tests of the 3060. The E6600 wasn't worth the price jump for the extra 2mb of cache when I bought my E6400(LAST WEEK!)

Now these Xeon banded chips have 4mb cache across the board for only $20 more....
