Ok, I am getting this MOBO
and this PSU

DDR2-800 1 Gig Ram, 7600GT GPU.

I need to know what would be best for me. I am a medium-low high end gamer. I dont do any 3-d stuff like that.

Which CPU is best for me, expansion, MAYBE OCing, I am a newbie at building, but not upgrading, and price/performance ratio? I am sticking with AMD, so dont bother me with core 2 duos. I got my mind set.

AMD 3200+
AMD X2 3800+
AMD X2 4200+

Thanks guys!

Thats all cool with me bro. I'd recommend getting the 4200+. Everything looks fine to me. I'm pretty sure someone will come and give you better advice though but thats my two cents.

What MOBO do you suggest with a E6300? Must be under $140, 2xPCI-e.

I just found this in a sec. MOBO

Ok, I need to say something new. I mis-told you all that I was a medium-low high end gamer. I am really a low-medium gamer. I dont play real intensive games a lot. I also have only $750 to spend, on the pc, I have the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers.

I have already spent $200 on the case, PSU, 250GB Sata HDD, and CDRW Drive. All I need are the CPU, MOBO, GPU, RAM, and OS.

What if I were to keep everything the same, but get the 3200+ Orleans for now, MAYBE OC it, and upgrade to a X2, or FX in a year or so when quad cores are out, and prices drop. I only have $750, and am sticking with AMD, and socket AM2. I have had bad experiences with Intel and gaming.

As for SLI, I was hoping to do that in a year or so.

What do you all think?

Haha, Netburst FTL. But C2D is not netburst, you shouldn't rule out Intel so quickly.
If you have $750 to burn, you could pick up a X1900XT 256M ($240) and have $510 left over for the board and CPU.
With $510, you could pick up a P965 board ($200 for P5B-Deluxe) and the E6600 ($317). The E6600 would be more powerful than a FX-62.

If you are gonna go with the 4200+ X2, you might as well jump up to the 4400+ X2. Twice the L2 cache, and you'll have it for a long time. You don't seem like you are going to upgrade or rebuild anytime soon. If it fits your budget, get the 4400+.

Though the 3800+ is the sweet spot for OC. The 4600+ is just $249 at Newegg. That will give you a STOCK ~20% over the others.

I personally would get the 4200+ and turn the bus up to 210MHz. The stock HSF will keep your temps down and you won't even need to up the voltage. I run Q4 at 1280 HQ with 4xAA for hours with no problem.

Avoid the 3200+. It'll be too disappointing. The 3800+ is ok if you're into heavy overclocking, but if not, the 4200+ would be better. Someone mentioned the 4400+ and that's even better, it all depended on your budget and finding a good sale.

Forget SLI, unless you already have a good card and are just doubling up. Otherwise its a waste of time and money, as prozac said. I think SLI will be going the way of the dodo in another year or so, but that's just a guess.

I am not interested in getting every new tech. that comes out all of a sudden. Why is that the worse upgrade path? You suggest LGA775?

I think I will suffice with the 3800+. I might try to OC, I have no idea, but I will mostly use it for light gaming and surfing net. I WILL upgrade within 6-12 months when X2's and FX's decrease, they will, or AMD comes out with some "Core2Duo killer," as they said that they are working on. As for SLI, I will still get the same MOBO and GPU, but probaly not upgrade to SLI. I will have 1 extra PCI-E slot open for expansion for something else, dont know what.

I actually will rcommend the X2 3800+ dual core. From all I've read and heard, the 3800 oc's like a charm.I just bought another dual core, yep, you guessed it,a 3800+I currently run a X2 4400+@2.4 but I've heard that bothe the 4400 and the 3800 will oc to the same speed. In fact the 3800 is supposed to oc more.So I'm going to try it and see what happens. But performance to dollar I would go with the 3800 over the 4200 as it will outperform it just with a simple overclock.Goodluck.

The x2 3800 is very popular and has been a great value until about 6-8 weeks ago. Since then its price has been creeping up while the X2 4200 has been trending downward. With the price points being so close now, I think the X2 4200 is the way to go.

The Core 2 Duo's act funny when they don't get two channels instead of one. If you are buying RAM for the COre either get a 1Gb in the 2 x 512 config or the 2gb in the 2 x 1028mb config.

I was also going to pgrade to 2Gig Ram in DDR2 in 6 months.

I will not be getting the CPU, GPU, or MOBO until another month. I will get the MOBO first, RAM second, then decide on the CPU and GPU, most likely the 7600GT. I will get the AMD because I havent tried them yet. I know Intel developes new things first, but AMD comes from behind and topples them. I am willing to try out AMD, if it doesnt work, then I will go back to Intel. I have to buy these in groups, I dont have all the money at once.

Nvidia or ATI GPUs for the MOBO i am getting, right now.
