Hi,

I will be very grateful for your replies,
I desperately need a new hard drive to replace my 6.4Gb 5400RPM hard drive. I want fast load times for Windows applications and games. It needs to be reliable and again, it has to be FAST!

Thanks

The 7200 rpm drives should all perform in about the same range, so it's really a matter of which one you like more. I'm partial to IBM drives, but that's just me.

I've had nothing but great experiences from the D740x- reliable, more quiet than the IBM, and mad fast.

I'd like to vote AGAINST the IBM drive. I've seen one die and one crash now...

That's unacceptable.

Well Maxtor makes good drives... and I like Seagate too.

With a hovering case crashing takes a whole new meaning... .

I don't want an SCSI drive, thanks for the reply anyway

Any WD JB will be fast.

That is a nice Garbage Can you have there!

Agreed, WD makes the fastest hard drives at the moment.

I voted for the WD JB, but only because it's what I would buy at the moment. I don't own one though so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

You have 16 votes now... that is much for a poll about hardware.

I realized you realized, but I had to say what I had to say because I didn't feel the sarcasm in what you said.

Anyone who voted WD needs to check out the 100 drives i've RMA'd in the past 2 years. And as for Maxtor drives being quiter than IBM.. you need to check your hearin there bro.. i can't even hear my ibm's seek! i mean seriously!.. i get 45000+ Sandra score with my two IBM 40G's in RAID0; buffered 100+MB/Sec

Just my $0.02

IBM's are cool (temp) and fast, but back up your data! They die and crash. I'm not buying another IBM drive for a long time.

W/ my 75GXP, it would wake me up when it started searching. W/ the d740x's, i can barely hear em (and no, my hearing hasn't become worse).
