hi.
when you say which the best heatsink what do you mean?
there are many types of heatsinks from water cooling to the ones that cames with cpu?
varies from the use you want.

I take it he means heatsink heatsink, since a waterblock is a waterblock... yeah, that sentence made no sense...

No fans... your going pretty risky, watercooling would be your best bet there. Howerver, for traditional heatsinks, the more metal the better... AKA Tuniq Tower, Scythe Infinity or Scythe Ninja.

But why don't you want a fan?

Hmm im going to jump to the conclusion they want a heatsink that can be used passively . Scythe Ninja is the way to go you might be able to run it passive (with case air flow only) or with a undervolted nexus, scythe, panaflow, or a $4 Yate Loon fan and with the money saved buy a Zalman Fanmate 2 (Yate Loon makes nexus fans)

This article at SPCR has some good ideas for a quite overclocked Core 2 duo computer .

Wait for the Zalman CNPS-9700....it's like the same thing as the cnps-9500 but it has a 110mm fan. Comes out October 19th. 3 more days!

lol, thought we're getting something with no fans =)

I would say, still get a fan, but the quietest 120mm fan, something around 20dB and can still push a decent CFM...

Couple that with a Tuniq Tower or Scythe Infinity and you have a great quiet HSF.

I've been thinking about the scythe infinity. I only run 20 deg C with the stock cpu cooler, so I thought I could get away with just a heatsink.
Any comments would be welcome.

Thanks

The Scythe Ninja is by far the best choice for using as a passive cooler, it was designed to be used passively or with a low rpm fan. The Scythe Infinity was not designed to be a passive cooler instead it was designed to take advantage of both low and high rpm fans. Basically the Infinities fin density it to high to properly take full advantage of case airflow.
