Ok i am currently stationed in iraq and the internet here is distributed wirelessly so we rely on access points to access as wireless clients then connect through cat5 cables to get access.
well I have two access points and my laptop has wireless so what i wanna do is use one access point to distribute the signal while the other receive it.
can this be done? can i set one access point to be the "Client" and the other connect to it through a cat5 cable and distribute it so my laptop can surf freely?
if so please advise me how to setup the access points.
Note: APs i have are: DLINK 2100AP and DLINK 900+AP
How are you setup currently. That will determine how you proceed. If the bridged AP connects directly to a computer and you don't have a switch then you'd plug the AP directly into the bridge. Probably would need a X-over cable. If your bridge uplinks a switch then just plug the AP into the switch with a standard patch cable.
Only thing you really want to cognizant of is the frequency used. If the bridge is on 6, then use 1 or 11 on the AP. If bridge is on 1, then 6 or 11 on the AP and so on.
