I wanted to get the Scythe Infinity, but a lot of people have said its stock fan doesn't move much air. And also, you can mount up to 4 fans on it... sooo with that said... what is the absolute best fan(s) to mount on it?

If your planning on 4 of them on that cooler... I would advise going with quieter versions...

I've heard the SILVERSTONE FM121 fans are whats popular.
I'm about to purchase an infinity as well but trying to check out this new fm121-b fan, according to newegg specs it's only a 1200rpm fan vs 2400rpm and it pushes the same amount of air and noise so I'm a bit confused on what the point of the second one is.

Aren't those fans made for case fans though?

FM121 are 120mm fans that can also be mounted for HSF. I'm using it right now for my rads and it's quite a great performer.

Um, you don't mean 4 fans at once do you?

But how can you mount them to a Scythe Infinity... I thought there's only enough clamps for one fan?

Or you can blow money on Scythe and get them to send you another clip.

Is there a guide or pics to show me how that's done? lol

It's number of air molecule passing the fin per second that matters. In which case only two FM121 in a push-pull config. can achieve the highest rate.

Wtf is "push-pull config"??

One fan pushes the air through the fins, while on the opposite side of the fins, the fan mounted there pulls the air through.

Just like a fan on the front of the case is a push(intake) fan (cool air) for the case, and the rear fan pulls (exhaust) the hot air outside.

Old expressions used to describe propeller driven planes with 2 propellers, one on front and one in the rear.

Personally I don't get the whole 2 fan bit. Maybe with the board/heatsink operating horizontally outside of the case. But my opinion, strapping two fans to an already heavy heatsink is pushing it. What was Coolermaster's tower heatsink a while back? The Hyper 6+? I saw a lot of people having problems with the cantilever effect with that.

Also, with most boards and most cases, when it's installed inside a case, you're going to be tight on space between the heatsink and back of the case. Which means the exhaust fan of the case will be right there. So why the need for another fan on the heatsink I don't know.

Just stick to one fan, you'll be fine.
