Hi,
I just bought a linksys BEFSX41 firewall router. I have install it to my small network sucessfully. It is a 2 WinXP pcs network.

I am able to connect to internet using Broadband. However, the connection become slower, some web page only loaded partially (IE show it is opening page, but no signal recieved) and not able to load game from yahoo.com.

I have search from knowledgebase and try some suggestions such as adjust MTU value. But it is not working.

What should I do ?

Thank you

Do you have the same slow down if you connect the modem directly to one computer? Are you using the router as a dhcp or using static ips?

Hi,
Thank you for reply. Slow down as mentioned does NOT happen if connect modem directly to computer. The router is set as DHCP. Any suggestions?

Thank you

run ipconfig/all on both computers and list what the settings are. might have a confict.
also might try turning off the firewall on the router and the built-in firewall in xp to see if that is a problem.

also check out http://www.speedguide.net they have some good reg edits to help out with speed and might have some other suggestions.

Hi,
I have tried to diabled all firewall. Still the same.
I have downloaded and tried TCP optimizer from speedguide.net to get MAXMTU, but it always timeout while pinging. However, I still able to visit any url. But it will be slower while downloading.

Linksys are very crapy routers. Return it or throw it away. Life is too short to trouble shoot [-peep-].
