What is the best way to remove a AM2 CPU without it being ripped out when withdrawing the heatsink.

Some people say that you can slide or slighly twist the heatsink first to break the grip of the thermal paste, but by doing this, couldn't you shear off the pins in the CPU socket, if the thermal paste is strong, :( Thanks,

I found it was easier to remove heatsink if you get your processor warmed up a bit by using Prime 95 for 5 mins. You can twist heatsink very gently and slowly.
Good luck

I normally twist slightly to the left, then to the right, back to the left, and so forth until it gives. Can't say its the best way, only that its worked for me.

I normally get off my heatsink when the cpu is still warm, just after turning it off. I then twist left and right a little bit, and you'll feel that once it moves slightly easily, it's good to take off the cpu.
