Hello all.
I am trying to build a new pc with this board cpu and ram:

ASUS P5W DH DELUXE

Core 2 Duo E6600

OCZ 2GB 667 (2X1024) OCZ26672048VPDC-K CL 5-5-5-15

Is possible to run this ram at 533 and have 1:1 ratio with cpu? and if want overclock to 3 ghz will it be possible getting also a 1:1?

Thanks in advance.

it says 667 ram any reason you would want to make it slower? I'm sure you can go into the bios and turn down the speed of it to make it 1:1 if you want. I must be reading this wrong :-/

Hello, thanks for your fast reply, i read somewhere that not having a 1:1 is not really good and can impact on performance... so thats why i ask...

What i was thinking to put ram down to 533 (if it is possible) and then when i do any overclock up to 667... but as you say, there is nothing wrong about having 266 fsb and ram running 333?

Excuse me as i am very confused with ram things.

Thanks again.

Well if you have a differing bus speed there is a slight impact on praformance yes. But doesnt that chip have a fsb of 1066mhz? btw the timing on that memory are vary vary bad. Seems you would have to OC your memory a bit to catch up. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231086 probly your best bet though i cant speak for the company that makes it. kinda expensive but it matchs the front side buss of your chip. Course then again i dont care much for OCZ.

Here is the data sheet on the cpu http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL9S8
and here is the one for the ram.
http://www.gskill.com/indexen.html

you might have to search the site since it uses frames look for

Model Name : F2-8500PHU2-2GBHZ (1GB x 2)

Overview : PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066) 4-4-4-5 Dual Channel

hope that helps.

Maybe i am wrong but isnt 1066 mhz the effective clock?
The real one will be 1066/4 = 266 mhz?
Like with ram, 667/2 = 333...
Why i need 1066? :?

you wanted it to match right? the effective clock is in ddr mode so your cpu is quad pumped and ram would be dual pumped. giving you hte miss match your so worried about.
