maxtor 300gb sata hard drive

I am having a problem where i only get 127gb of hard drive space instead of 300gb.

i am running windows pro sp1 right now

is there a way so that i can get the full capacity of the hard drive?

iirc, you need SP2 to recognize larger drives... What I did was slipstream myself a SP2 XP install disk...

so all i have to do is install sp2 and it should show 300gb? that easy?

Not if it was partitioned on install... if so, then you will need to either reinstall with a slipstreamed XP-SP2 CD, borrow one, or use a partition resizing utility to resize partition after you upgrade to SP2.

Unless it is not a boot drive, then you could copy data to another drive, and simply reformat, then copy data back to drive...

i just installed sp2 with a slipstreamed xp-sp2 cd and its still not at 300gb

eh i got it i didnt have my jumper on the hard drive
