Hi!

I am a long time reader but first time poster here.

Two days ago I purchases a brand-new custom rig featuring the following components:

Ram: OCZ26671024V 1GB 667Mhz 5-5-5-10

Motherboard: MSI 965P NEO-F SKT.775 INTEL

GFX Card: EVGA 7600gt 256

CPU: Intel CORE 2 DUO 2.13G 2M

QUESTION: What should my CPU fan speed be running at normally? for some reason my mobo software (Core centre) is indicating a warning (loud annoying siren) because the CPU fan speed is running at between 800-900 RPM. I look inside the case and its whirring away .. doesnt seem out of the ordinary. However this only recently started happening. I was under the impression that the core 2 duo fan only runs when it is nescessary to conserve power?

I'm just wondering why my fan is going full-tilt (i guess 800-900 rpm is not full tilt .. but still alarming) 24/7.
*EDIT*: My cpu temp is between 25-30c
any input would be great!

PS. I can't get over the performance I am having in games WOW (HL2 and Farcry! WOW) running at 16:10 max settings.

Your temps are great. Do as Mak said and lower the alarm warning settings. It could be a faulty sensor or that smart fan is running it slow because there's no load on the CPU.

Thank you.

I will adjust my Core Centre to CPU Fan speed of 0 RPM.

So that if it turns off THEN the alarm will go off

The motherboard utilities shipped with the MSI motherboards have only been at best half functional. MSI has yet to address the issue and to the best of my knowledge, they never bothered to update those utility programs.

Otherwise, they make good motherboards.

Excellent to hear. The motherboard is great but the Core Centre software is a bit questionable.

Can anyone recommend BETTER core mobo software for me to run?
