So today I fitted my GA-965P-DQ6 mainboard into an ATX midtower case and discovered that the copper Crazy Cool backplate is in direct contact with the removeable motherboard tray.

I'd like to know if this puts the mainboard in danger of an electric short should I the power button be switched ON introducing a current.

Although I am planning on taking my metal shears to the motherboard tray in the morning it would still be nice to know.

There is a thick thermal pad between the "Crazy Cool" backplate and the motherboard. Think for a moment - if it were a problem, the plate would short the motherboard removable tray or not - but it doesn't.

Just the the plate off - remove the three little screws and pinch the legs of the two nylon pins. Don't take the pins out - they're holding the chipset cooler on.

Yep. I figured it out. The Crazy Cool back plate is still attached and the mainboard is installed.

I'm digging this mobo and cpu w/ this cooler.
When I first got it to post the temps were at 25 to 29 idle.
After a few reboots the BIOS reads CPU idle temps around 17 degree C.

On top of the E6600 I globbed a bunch of Artic 5 and Scythe Mine with a fan turning at 300 rpm.
