I need one fast but on a fair budget, along the lines of a 7600GT. From my friends recommendations, they told me that either 7600GT, X800XL, or X850(for hot what came after it, XT? XL? ) would be good, but who is the CLEAR winner, or are they evenly matched?

X850XT and 7600GT are the two choices, leave the X800XL out of it.

Both cards perform well, win their share of benchmarks, and there is no clear winner.

I would go for the 7600GT, if the price difference isn't big.

Thanks guys.

I checked out various pricings for the 7600GT on ncix.com (a canadian computer parts website) and all brands that make the 7600Gt model cost in the 200$ category and than EVGA cost less than $140 (all in CAD). Why is this?

EVGA: http://www.ncix.com/products/index [...] cture=eVGA

The rest are scattered through out here: http://www.ncix.com/products/index [...] rcatid=108

But generally, they all tend to be in the $200 range except the EVGA one.

As far as I can tell, that's a hell of a deal for a 7600GT in Canada. It looks like a straight reference 7600GT but at a very good price. Here's Evga's info on it. There's also a few decent looking XFX deals at NCIX too, but not as good as that Evga.

When you factor in price (Canadian)/performance, this card is clear winner out of the cards you just listed.

imo evga is the best gfx card maker for nvidia, jus cuz of their ko lines, but ive been buying xfx cuz they look nicer

but take the 7600gt cuz of sm3, the x850s can only use sm2 that goes for the pro, pe and xt
