So I'm shopping for a flat panel monitor. It'll be used almost entirely for gaming, mostly FPS games. I found the Hitachi CML155V 15" and it looks too good to be true:
500:1 contrast ratio
25ms response
300 nits brightness
All inputs (s video, VGA, digital, RCA)
Speakers and mic
$500

So, what's the downside? Will this thing do a decent job for games? Should I wait for this mythical Mitsubishi FF tech?

All advice welcomed.

Hmm, 300 brightness is a high. If you'll use it for games, I'd personally wait for FFD.

It was to come out some time ago, but hasn't since it was delayed. It'll be here by teh end of this year/ beginning of next.

I never heard it was delayed. But end of this year isn't that long of a wait. Will be right around the time of the new Lord of the Rings movie. Can't wait.

Look out for #1. Don't step in #2 either.

I just got the Eizo L365 today with 25ns response time. In the tomshardware test of LCDs, they say it is not as quick as (another one - I do not remember wich one). Anyway, I ran 3DMark test, and I would not say, it is fast enough for gaming. Luckily I do not game, so for my use it is just fine - well more than just fine actually.
