EpsonScan Slide Recognition/Scanning Questions

Just got Epson Perfection 4180 and have some slides to start out with.
Quality isn't that bad, but speed is. Has anyone had any luck getting Epson
Scan to recognize slides in Auto or is Professional mode the only choice.
Is there any way to bypass or automate the preview. I don't really want to
make any adjustments from Epson Scan, just get the slides scanned into
Elements so I can make any enhancements I need from there.
