Inspired by Toms Hardware I've decided to build a computer in my work truck to use with a wide range of GPS positioning Software. I was gunna get a laptop but after a demo of a budget model I decided it was much too slow for my taste. A referbished Mobo and flatscreen monitor, a few spare parts and I find myself with a decent system.

A8N32-SLI Deluxe
3700+ SanDiego
74 gig Raptor
plain Jane 3200 DDR
6600GT
Seasonic 500W PS hooked to a 1000 Watt Inverter .... Wait a minuite. I'm Taking 12v DC converting it to AC so I can power my power supply wich redundantly converts it back to 12v DC and reduces is further to 5v 3v ect.

Why? Because I'm ignorant.

Here's my question: Should I aquire a power supply of some sort DC to DC?

What am I missing here? Surly I have some options.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks.

I'm not runing a typical GPS navagation system.
I'm running Trimble Office Software and Trimble GPS SCS900 Automated Site control and survey software for Earthwork managment.

Half a milion dollars worth of equiptment and software. Yes I'm sure your right...I should spring for a laptop.

I guess its some sort of weird fetish.

You answered my question
Any sort of DC to DC converter for a PC will have a chance of supplying bad power. there will be power fuxuations that could amage the PC.
I'll stick with the inverter as you suggested, thanks for quick responce.
